THE HIGH SHERIFF'S CHAPLAINAlthough primarily responsible for the maintenance of law and order through the criminal justice system, the High Sheriff traditionally maintains strong links with the religious community within the county. It is customary for each serving High Sheriff to appoint a Chaplain. The choice of Chaplain is entirely that of the serving High Sheriff, and Chaplains have come from many faiths and origins. The Chaplain's duties are to officiate at the High Sheriff's church service, and to say prayers and graces at the formal events in the High Sheriff's calendar. The Chaplain to the present High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, Sir Stuart Hampson, is The Reverend Jeremy Brooks. |
